I asked him for more pictures, this is the reply I got:

Hi Niall, I don't have more pictures and I am unable to take new ones.
If we come to an agreement the boat will be delivered directly to your home address and the cost for that and for the insurance will be included in the initial sale price. The Rib will be shipped by truck and that will take about 2 weeks.
The payment will be done to an eBay agent via bank transfer and after you receive and inspect the boat, the money will be released to me. The transaction will be fully under eBay's surveillance, giving us both security and insurance that nothing will go wrong. They are acting like a third party in this transaction.
When the Avon arrives you have 7 days to see and test it which way you like. Within this period you have to decide if you purchase it or not.
If you decide to take it you will have to contact ebay and let them know that so that they can release the payment to me. If you won't like it you will have to ship it back to me within the 7 days and ebay will refund you. The shipping back will be done on my own expense.
I will be waiting to hear back from you soon.

I had the exact same thing a few weeks ago with something I had bidded on on ebay - they sent me a fake "second chance offer" (was a real auction) and said all this rubbish about how the money wouldt be released and how I could send the item back.

seen a lot of these with some unrealistic low prices , seller always seem to be abroad, a search of the boat in completed items often finds the real seller

I'm guessing he's reading these forums, he's stopped replying to me. Oh well at least I got a bit of fun out of it.

Hopefully this will be a lesson to fellow readers. Don't believe the muck people tell you! If you can't see the boat in the flesh, FORGET ABOUT IT!

Hi Niall, the idea of you coming here to view the rib would have been great a few days ago, but since then I have crated it at the shipping company and I have paid for that.
That is why I am unable to take new pictures.
I have also paid eBay for using their services, so I would like to stick with them.
Please get back to me asap and let me know your decision about ebay safe harbor.
