Daughters boat

Hi looking at getting this for the daughter to play with , are they any good , is it a good price , any views welcome

don't want anything bigger or a bigger engine she is only 15 but wants her own rib ,she did want a jet ski but now wants this (thank god )

Yes she is but she loves the water trying to give her a start prefer buying a small rib than a jet ski she also wants to do rya level 2 not going to stop her she thinks she will get all the boys on the beach lol they will have to get past me first

If the pic is anything to go by it looks well looked after. I guess it's 4.5? Zodiac have made boats for a long time but I've never used a rib version myself. With a 40 on the back it'll be lively enough. I've been out today in a 4.5 with a 40 and it was great fun.

I hope she enjoys it

Nah! I know a bloke who's first (own) boat was a 6.5m twin engined Redbay - piece of p1ss! What better way to learn than in your own rib (wot u love)

We had a Sib and she did not like that, she does not do small shes like us bigger the better she thinking about getting her mates on, her mum has said she will buy a marine stereo for it all we will here on the beach is boom boom boom

Looks like a good package for a starter boat. I think I was about 15 when I managed to persuade my parents to buy me a RIB - similar sort of size. Had lots of fun with it and taught me loads

PS. I would be tempted to try and beat them down on price a tad as the engine isn't the newest

Well, I certainly would not count myself as a rich parent, but if my two lads show any inclination, I will do the same! The alternative may be how I (mis) spent my youth, two wheels and an engine Now it may be one thing for yourself, but to contemplate YOUR kids doing what you used to get up to

I am not rich but having only one daughter she does tend to get what she wants within reason , like to encourage her in any of the sports she does 3 horses as well they are expensive rather this than walking the streets with her mates

I'm just comparing it to my brother whi has just turned 16, he would love a RIB but has saved his own money up and bought a small SIB, he enjoyed that and sold them on making a bit of money, he now has a 4.6m SIB and a 25hp outboard.
I think its more to do with knowing the value of something rather than just been given it.

When I was 13 my dad bought a 13ft dorey with a 30hp yam. He had a Fairline Sunfury and I'd follow him to Herm with my younger brother (if he was fully loaded he'd follow me!!). We weren't rich at all, he was a self-employed boatbuilder that specialized in major repairs and rebuilds so he was always in the right place for a bargain!

Looking after the boat was my responsibility, and if I screwed up or messed around we wern't allowed to use it. I learnt a hell of a lot, both about respecting things and boathandling & seamanship.

I personally don't believe in buying kids what they want when they want... I'm 27 now and I still have a few mates that rely on mummy and daddy, and although they're decent blokes (they have to be or I wouldn't be friends with them!) they have no real concept of the value of anything.

That little RIB does look ideal though if you're going to get her something

i dont know kids nowadays ,,,do it old school i say ,,get em a rowing boat for a few years ,,makes them appreciate an engine ,,even a seagull ,,like me old man did with me when i was 6,,lol,,,we even made our eldest row us about when we were potting before she could use the engine ,,,,,,eeer and ,,yes she had a lifejacket under her sweatshirt .

I was started off that way too! 'Abandoned' in the harbour at 4 years old in a rubber dinghy with a pair of oars. It worked, I made it back!

This is the same man that taught me to swim by throwing me off the back of the boat at 3 years old, that worked too!
