Hallsands is now just a block of Holiday flats and a few houses which haven't fallen in to the sea yet!
The parking along Slapton at Strete Gate, middle Car Park and Torcross now works out to be just as expensive as Blackpool Sands but charged by the Council.
There are a few places you can get away with not being charged.
The Cricket Inn at Beesands is absolutely cracking for food and they keep a good pint!... well worth a visit.

The Cricket inn is my favorite pub in the UK, mainly because of the happy memories, and the nights spent on the beach outside as a teenager.

When it was rebuilt a few years ago, after Cyril etc gave it up, we were a bit worried it might change too much, but it's still good.
As mentioned we have friends there, and can guarantee that once the boats are anchored, camp has been made on the beach, and we are leaning against the wall with a pint people we've known since we were all kids pop up and act like we were never away - Heaven.

Nasher.

Better late than never! too late to help in this case but i thought I would pitch in with information that could help others. I have just returned from a few days in Dartmouth this week. We launched at Blacknesss Marine where the service and slipway were superb. We left our car and trailer there because we had a few nights staying on the Resnova floating restaurant that allowed us to moor the Rib up on their pontoon so the RIB was literally on our doorstep throughout our stay. Food, service, staff and convenience on the Resnova were superb, the only slight downside was that the cabin was quite small for two salad dodgers and a load of boating gear. We had a great few days topped off when we had a pod of dolphins join us on our way back from Berry head on Thursday. I have tried to attach two photos one of the rig at the top of the slip at Blackness showing the room at the slip and the other showing the Rib moored up against Resnova.

We keep our rib at Blackness and cannot fault the service. David and his team are always friendly and ready to help.

They added a new floating pontoon last year which gives much better access.

Resnova is a great solution if you need to moor overnight. Food is ggod, srvice friendly, and rooms/vabons are meant to to comfortable.
I haven't used Blackness but I've only heard good things about them, MDL at Dartside Quay Galmpton is also good.
I do wish Dart Harbour would start to umdertand the needs of Ribs....we do need to tie up, but we don't carry tenders!!

Good luck with trying to get Dart Harbour to understand the needs of anyone!

Well, after reading this thread, Andre and I, (and respective Mrs's) are off to Dartmouth in a couple of weeks time. I'm intending to launch at Blackness.

Woot, I just did a virtual drive in Google Street View to get to the slip. The country lanes look about 2 feet wide in Google. Did you have any trouble negotiating them????
