Buyer Beware - eBay Scam?

Hi -there have a been some RIBs advertised on eBay at very low prices and short duration auctions.

The advertiser claims that the transaction is covered by the eBay protection scheme. I believe that this is a scam as

(a) you are encouraged to contact the seller direct
(b) he gives what he says is a work email [so you would not surprised if you could not contact him]
(c) the short duration might convince you to get in quick before the RIB goes (d) he claims that it is covered by the eBay Buyers Protection Scheme - but boats are NOT covered
(e) the same advertiser has advertised at least two good, different, RIBs

I have emailed eBay; and I note that they appear to have removed a couple of RIB adverts; but I have not (yet) received any official response from them.

Example - a Avon Jet Rib 320DL Boat, Tender for 99p !! -with just 4 hours to go. eBay appear to have (correctly in my opinion) removed this advert.

There are of course many legitimate adverts on eBay.

I am surprised at ebay most times when I report stuff they aren't interested as they are that greedy

That Avon advert for the 320 Jet is most defiantly a scam!

Hi. If you click on an eBay listing and it takes you to

"This listing (**********) has been removed, or this item isn't available.
Please check that you've entered the correct item number
Listings that have ended 90 or more days ago won't be available for viewing."

that is a good indication that it was a scam!
