Brig Eagle 645 any good?

Hi all I have been hankering after something bigger again on the Rib front & looking at a few over the last year!
Just to make it clear I do not want to look like a life boat, I do want bench seat at back & sun bed at front with lots of storage (well the wife dose!)!
I would prefer to keep it to 6m max but I did have a look at the Brig at SHBS & liked it allot!

Any one used one or been out on one?

Nick

Hi Nick,

I have the predecessor model, the Brig 600. I am very satisfied with this boat. Good quality, a lot of storage space and seaworthy. It has a CE B-certificate and with the DF 140 I reach almost 40 kn. The only thing I disliked, was the seating. By standard the boat had a leaning post. I changed it to Jockeys.
The 645 was tested in one of the last RIB International. Maybe, you take a look. And in red, with dark grey tubes (see attachment), it is a real eyecatcher.

I am unsure as to whether you have actually purchased your new rib, but in the meantime I thought I would comment on the Brig Eagle 645 that the family uses in Rhosneigr, North Wales.
It has been in use for two seasons and is powered by a Suzuki 150. It is the base model without electronics options like stereo or VHF.
The main use of this boat is for water skiing, wakeboarding and picnicking.
The handling of this boat is exceptional, particularly in a big chop. No crashing, no banging EXACTLY what you want to get you home at the end of the day. The 150 allows you to pull a mono skier out of the water when the rib has 7 adults and 3 kids on board without a bit of strain.
There are a few bug bears with this rib - mostly minor irritations rather than anything else :

1) On delivery it was noted that the steering was very heavy. At the end of the first season a hydraulic pump was fitted to the steering - perfect now but should have had one from new
2) The stainless grabrail above the consol is directly in line of sight for the helmsman when standing. This has been lowered by three inches and is now perfect
3) The large rear storage compartment is VERY difficult to access and is impractical for storage of skis, luggage etc. Fortunately there is lots of storage elsewhere, but I would say this is a huge design flaw
4) The fibreglass radar arch at the back is directly in your view when standing looking backwards towards a skier!
5) Some of the catches into storage compartments are awkward and cheap. Some have already broken

The Brig is awesome looking in ice white.

It is so good that the family has bought another identical one to deal with all the kids!

I spotted this one today!

I've been looking lately for a new rib myself and I have had my eyes on this one.

2011 Brig Eagle 645 with 150hp E-Tec - One Brokerage - Great Collection of Power and Sailing Yachts

Looks like a good saving on a new one.

Excellent!

I bought one in 2007 with a Honda 150 on the back and loved it and have just bought another one from the new UK Distributor "Wolf Rock Boat Co" in Kingsbridge, Devon with an Evinrude 175 on the back, great sea keeping rib and very well built and looks stunning.

Service at Wolf Rock is nothing short of superb! Paul & Leon both good guys and very knowledgeable. This thing will fly with this 175 on the back as it’s an extremely light engine as is the rib, total weight of rib, engine with fuel aprox 1000kgs.

If you're in Torquay we're neighbours of the Wolf Rock co. come over and see the race boat and the new ones in the same visit!
