Boat graphics

I want to put our boats name on the tubes. Is there any special paint or vinyl type graphics I should consider??

I spoke to the guy that does our our graphics on our trucks and trailers and he didn't see a problem with vinyl, providing the tubes wernt continually inflated/deflated.

Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Thanks

Martin.

Martin, this has been discussed before. Try doing a search on 'boat name graphics' and 'sign writing' and you'll find some useful info to look at while waiting for members to reply.

Thanks for that Louise. I have done a search and I may well have found my answer.

Been having a look at your web site, very good indeed.

Thanks

I managed to get some tube lettering paint from the local chandlery then i put my boat name into word to select a good font from which i made a couple of stencils from sticky back plastic(blue peter stylee) and painted on the tube with a good result.

alot cheaper then buying cut letters!

Signwriting vinyl will not work on the tubes for long as it cannot cope with the flexing and will simply peel off.

The best way that ive come across is to get a sign writing company to make a template of the wording that you want in vinyl and stick it on thoroughly where you want it using a heat gun or hair dryer (on a lowish temerature).

Then simply paint in the wording/images using heavy duty vinyl paint and remove the vinyl template.

Looks very professional if done correctly and the use of the heat to stick the edges down properly will prevent the paint from bleeding.

Alternatively, use hypalon cut letters and bond them on although these arent particularly pretty IMHO!

Hope this helps.
