The old stuff was 50mm. 35mm will fit up the conduit a bit easier!

This is why you don't solder battery cables together. The cable was had less than half its strands intact and was brown inside.

It's a bloody miracle the boat didn't go up in flames. That was in the underdeck area, next to the fuel line.
Who would have fitted it out.....JBT ?

Nos for a 6.5 meter run I would use 40mm, 35 might not be able to deliver enough current when the Opti is starting. I had this problem with an e-tec 115.

I can confirm that.

I did point it out earlier in the thread but it's a long time ago now.

JBT have been very helpful indeed-thanks guys- and had absolutely nothing to do with the original fitout.

If they'd fitted her out originally I doubt I'd have had much to do now bar build an N2k network and update stuff.

Mercury actually recommend 33mm for that size run, so I should be ok with 35mm. (besides, it was starting ok with half the 50mm najjered as per the pic. There were 3 joins like that)

I'm getting short of space in the under deck trunking too

It's significantly cheaper than Safety-Marine to get the tinned cable from Vehicle Wiring Products by the way.
