Are Leeway RIB's any good?

I have read all the stuff about splashing, but does anyone have any first hand experience about how well made/good they actually are? eg, quality of materials, construction standard, fit-outs etc.

No - I've read all that stuff.

Can anyone who actually owns/uses one tell me what they think of it.

No comments on its roots, please!

Thanks.

Get Lee to take you for a test ride and a look round the workshop. I suspect he'll be happy to but don't quote me on that-I'm not him!

I've got a console from him and it's really good.
G E seemed pretty impressed when he went out in one.

Don't think you have read it all... ...if you keep reading (probably around p25) the original questioner comes back after testing one and someone else who owns one actually comments on the original question rather than the splashing issue. Its tedious but if you want the answer its in there somewhere.

Me and GL went over to Cowes 2 weeks ago, after looking for a RIB for about 6 months with no joy. Tested quite a few new ones, but all seemed a bit too much for the wallet after adding the extras. Second hand was either ropey for the money, or too expensive for our budget. When we first phoned Lee, he set us up with a test at Stormforce school in Southampton, who were very accomodating and let us have a blast on their 6.3m with a 90hp. It got on the plane realy quick, had loadsa grip in tight turns, and flew nice and flat when wake jumping! and managed a very respectable 43kn with 3 big fellas. We had a good look at fixtures and the quality, and we can say that it was very very good. When we went to Lee`s place in Cowes, he even picked us up from the passenger ferry to save us the money on getting the car over! He showed us around the workshop at some of the other customers RIBS, all in different stages of build. Again the quality was outstanding, and he explained everything in detail how it was all done, and then showed us all the different options we could have. We opted for the 6.3m with 2xdouble jockeys, his new delux offshore console with front seats( offset to starboard as we have kids) a double A-frame with top tow hook and nav lights as standard, complete with steering and internal fuel tank, all within our budget. Colours are dark grey tubes, black wear patches and whit grp. We found a 135hp Mariner eptol 95 with full dealer history and only 201 hours on loch lomond (fresh w) from a chap in Edingburgh, cost only 2300 with a s/s 21" viper prop. Its clean as a whistle with all instruments, steering and wintered every year.
So in 7/8 weeks time, we should be testing around hartlepool mariner if anyone wants a butchers.
Are Leeway Ribs any good? Definatly yes. We got the deal we wanted, the treament that all customers deserve, and the Rib we had spent ages looking for. Have a look for yourself, you wont be disappointed!

Doe it get offset to port if you haven't got kids?

Do you mean that the console has seats at the front of it in which case do not put your Children on Console seats when under way!

offset console

Hi RW, no the reason for the offset is simply so our kids dont have to walk on the tubes to get past the console, could slip off. I agree entirely about them being on the front seat, though, wouldnt go on there myself exept in flat calm.

I don't think you find a better boat for the money. Leeway makes a great product. I haven't heard anything bad from owners, or people who have seen his boats for themself.

yes you have! Jono and Gav have seen the boat and made their views fairly clear.

When you say you won't find a better boat for the money, Quantify it! How much boat and how much money?
