Consider using 25:1 for the first start. 50:1 is f*** all oil really.
IMVHO, wd40 is great for freeing stuff up, but not a great lube in a motor. I'd squirt a bit of 2 stroke oil in the bores.
Also give it a good squirt of 25:1 down the carb throats before attempting to crank it at all.
(Basically, make sure all the internal bearing & rings are well lubed before attempting to start).
And make sure you've got a reasonable degree of confidence the carbs all working OK before starting it - blocked jet means no fuel means no lube to that cylinder.
Just MVHO.

ripping out the electrics, and better look at the huge metal fuel tank, must have cost a fair whack to fabricate

I was trying to figure out what kind of fuel tank to get for my own searider, it never dawned on me to fit an underseat tank.

Just wondering how it would affect the rib, would it list to one side when full due to the offset console?
Could you just offset the engine more to counteract?
How woud it affect the handling?

Trading storage space for deck space would probably suit me as I would mainly be operating inside cork harbour and anything I need with me would be kept in a drybag.

Is there any other advantages/disadvantages to take into account?

Any idea what capacity the tank is Olly?

I'm going to be mounting under seat fuel tanks on mine and the console is still offset. Not sure how much list it will create?
