Advice needed

I am looking at a Humber ocean Pro 6m which has a 90hp engine has anybody got any comments on the engine size. Just all the other ribs of 6m+ we have been looking at have 115hp up. We will be using it for leisure and pleasure with a maximum of 4 adults on it generally.
Thanks

Sounds a bit underpowered, even with a two stroke.

What are you after, a river boat?

6-6.5m ribs are max rated to around 150-200hp.

A 6m+ running 90hp of any flavour, would be a wet fart of a thing.

It's too small for that boat if you plan to have four OB, IMO. It will move the boat around on the plane, sure, but you'll have to run the engine flat out (high fuel costs) and it will be slow and boring. Also, when you need a responsive engine (bit of a sea) you won't have one.

A friend has a 5.8 Ocean Pro, single jockey console and runs a Suzy 115. Nice rig but I wouldn't call it a rocket ship either.

I'd be looking at 130/140 on that boat as a useful minimum...

Certainly agree with a that Willk has advised. Go big and enjoy the speed when you need it.

Nice 6m rib here with Yammie 115hp - perfect for leisure use: http://boatsandengines.wordpress.com...beye-6mtr-rib/

Another under-powered Humber 6.5m here: http://www.findafishingboat.com/humber-6-5/DB50984

I would expect around 30-34 kts from that. We have built an Ocean pro 6.3 with 115 four stroke and that did 34 kts, as others have said "it won't have the wow factor" Dave Mallet on here as Wavelenght runs a Humber destroyer 6 meter with a 90 suzuki and may be worth talking to. We have an Ocean pro 5.7 with a 125 opti if you are interested.

a mate has a 6m Humber Destroyer, its adequate without being a hotrod. Fuel wise it seems OK.

Link to a video here

More power is always nice but from being in his boat its fine with a 90, a 140 would be better but it depends what you want to use it for. Low 30's speed wise is about right but we went to Scotland from Ireland in his with 4 adults on board in a lumpy sea and held it at 28 knots no problem. Fully loaded with about 8 on board it still planes but can take a while.
