Moving it to Spain

I am thinking about moving my boat to Spain, Alicante in particular, and using it there instead of here.

I picked Alicante because you can fly there from Southampton (where I live).

I assume berthing will be cheaper down there and I was hoping I might be able to charter it out when I am not there. I would hope to go and play on it about 8 to 10 weekends a year, ideally paid for at least in part by the charter money.

Any thoughts? Good idea? Stupid Idea? Is Alicante a good choice?

Alicante is a good starting point, keep going south. How good is it on sand cos I would aim south and keep going....

Just a thought, you would need to register it in Spain and would be subject to all the Spanish regs not UK. Thus any of the yachting forums might help on this.
