I used to go Paragliding near Annecy. Camped on the SE side of the lake. I don't remember any slipway access at that site - I think the site above is on the southern end of the lake.

Annecy is a lovely place, surrounded by snow capped mountains - it is quite sheltered from the winds but one holiday there it rained for 3 days non stop then the sun came out and we had a week of brilliant sunshine.

The town of Annecy itself has an old part with small rivers running alongside the streets, this is very pretty as it is decorated with flower boxes.

There is a great restaurant at the top of "Col de Forclaz" overlooking the lake and mountains.

Mont Blanc and Geneva are both an hours drive away.

Fantastic .. certainly gives some food for thought, and Mrs HB quite likes the idea of taking a slow saunter up the lake for some lunch or shopping and then return to the site for a chilling evening!

I've hired small boats (sail & power) on Lake Annecy - good fun and not too pricey, although that was back in 2003.

For a proper laff, there's a diving board open for all foc, with 1m, 3m & 5m stages to hurl yourself off - big splash when you hit the water around 30 secs after leaving the top board.

Agree with everything EnglishLes says about the town - sweet place.

Oh and lots of campsites across the road from the lake, but they get busy, so advised to book in advance.
