power

I have a 4.7metre seapro with a 30hp evinrude 4 stroke which i find okay with 4 people on board, but when I put three sets of dive kit in the boat seems a little underpowered.Would a 30-40 2 stroke be faster and lighter???

Cheers

What is max HP rating for the boat? That is what I would recommend in a 4 stroke or direct injection 2 stroke. You can never have too much power when loaded to the gills with dive equipment out on the open ocean.

FWIW I have a 4m SIB with a 40hp 2 stroke and it planes no problem with 3 divers (Even with doubles), but with four it takes a little bit to get up on plane.

Yes, they are lighter, quicker accelerating and generally have a faster top end. One draw-back is worse fuel economy.
