I wrote tossers thinking no one would read it. the word doesn't mean anything in the States -- I actually had to look it up to see if I was using it properly. I apologize to everyone who responded. In the USA, the boat is quite rare except behind a Lego firetruck: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C2gw8YcpiC...8/s1600/l1.jpg
The tohatsu TLDI 40 is slightly too heavy for my boat, so I got an Evinrude 30, no battery required, that overall weighs 45 kilos less. This motor is apparently available in short shaft/manual pull because police departments like it. unlike the TLDI, it requires no power to run and no battery to replace every three years and tie down.
It should pull pretty well, but next time I'd buy a MK2 so that I could get a long shaft 40 and not worry about every 40HP motor sold in the US weighing more than the hull rating of the MK2C. where I live, apparently you can be ARRESTED for having a motor on your boat that weighs more than the stated hull rating. Plus, your insurer will not support you if you have some kind of incident, and any injured persons will be suing you into oblivion.
Thanks for the replies
