Avon Transom paint

Hi, Just getting my old Avon ready for next summer. When I bought the boat the transom was painted grey. After a season of hard use the paint its flaking off in places. I have sanded the transom, should I be using a special paint, two pack or some other type of sealer. The boat is going to the med for the summer so I want to get it done ready.
Cheer for your help.
Richard

Paint

Thanks for the link. I had done a search for transom paint but seemed only to show links to GRP transom's, where mine is wood.

Ahh, thought it was GRP, I think you can use topcoats on wood, what colour you wanting it?
On the SIB's I've used woodstain mixed with resin and it gave it a good finish.

transom paint

I've had good luck with coating transoms with an epoxy barrier coat. A couple coats of that have lasted me a number of years. It does a good job sealing the wood and stands up to the elements very well.
