thoughts on trailer manufacturers

would welcome some input on the follwing manufacturers/suppliers.
I am after a 1500 kg gvw trailer
I have previously owned an Indepension - pricey,
and a De Graaf - was too old and knackered when I got it
to make any valid judgement.
I am looking at an Extreme trailer, Becktons trailer, De Graaf or a Nicholson.
SBS is a little too expensive for my budget.
Anyone have a braked 1500kg trailer manufactured by any of the above I would
like some feedback

thanks
Andy

It's a damn shame Rapide aren't still owned by Dixon-Bate (or however it turned out) as they were excellent.

It might be worth asking Ribcraft who they use now for trailers in package deals as they used to use Rapide.

in this country I think that SBS are the best. Euro trailers gotta be REBA or RIBA

my Boy just bought an extreme and I ws pleasantly surprised by it cost effective and a hole heap better than an Indispension. ectons I think took over Parrimore and they were real good

My SBS is not the right shape for the hull but it seems very solidly made - its the 1800kg version so the largest single axle they do.

Worth it though-for example my drawbar on an 1100kg trailer is bigger and meatier than most for a 1500kg trailer.
Is that Ribcraft's price?

Mersea Trailers are the company that supply Rapide and Snipe trailers now.

You'd be looking at:

Snipe 1500kg trailer: £2085

Rapide 1500kg trailer: £2700

That's new on their website-cheers. It wasn't there a few weeks ago. I thought they'd just bought the name and weren't using it.It means I can get parts off the shelf now

I can give you feedback from customer service by Nicholson

Bought a used motor direct from John, the managing Director of the company. They also own Raider UK who build large cuddy fishing boats upto £20,000

I spoke to John himself over the phone and he gave me the assurance that the motor was in full working order ready to use. I specifically asked him to check the PTT and was told it works fine.

Paid top money for the engine, mote than a private buyer would. Arrived and the motor would not Tilt.

Called John, never got a reply. 3 emails, nothing back. Left me high and dry.

Worse thing is he went on about suppling me with new trailers for re-sale down south prior to me committing to the purchase and as soon as I paid never heard any more from it, again no reply to my emails. Can only think of it as a way of keeping me sweet for the sale.

Never understood why I got that kind of service from a very large company, willing to dump a £800 motor onto somebody to get a sale. Surly a company of that size does not need to trade in such a way.

Begs the question what happens if the trailer you buy goes wrong ?

Anyway rant over, his loss as now anybody that asks gets my feedback of the service I got. Hope it was worth it John....

Three phone calls and three emails to Mersea regarding Dixon-Bate trailers...no response. Phone calls not returned by "our Dixon-Bate expert", emails not answered.

Read my thread about Mersea- quite honestly you would need your head examined if you buy anything from them - up to you but I thought the whole point of forums like this was to gauge other members experiences etc. Do what you like but for me and anybody else who have dealt with Mersea - I doubt many will do it again!

many of the trailer manufacturers show contact details for email
on their websites, and yet only one I have emailed has bothered to reply.

Great input everyone...please keep the replies coming.

Most of the suggestions are for trailers over the 2K mark at the size I want.

I am specifically interested in feedback from owners of Becktons
£1750 for a 1500kg gvw roller trailer, and Extreme trailers £1749 for the same.
These prices seem to be the best and include VAT.

thanks

they are re-selling SBS trailers I think.
SBS are a bit out of my price range.

Trailer

I bought a new 3000kg trailer from Becktons after giving up on getting parts or information on the Rapide that I inherited.

I've had the new one for a couple of months, done almost 1000 miles and a dozen launches and am very happy with it now that the rollers are all set up.

Ta-also appreciated. I've never tried dealing with them. If they are like that, it's a damn shame as Dixon-Bate's customer service was exemplary.
