Strange bearing washer

Can anyone tell me where I can obtain more of these washers?
Used behind the castellated nut to hold in the tapered bearings for my road trailer.
Outside diametre is 45mm and inside is 25mm
The tang folds into the gap between the castellations ensuring the nut can't come undone.
Been in touch with bearing suppliers with no joy.

a lot of american stuff use that style of washer. they have a 'flat' on the underneath of the stub axle, to stop the washer rotating (otherwise it'd negate the usefulness of the tang I guess! )

can you go by axle / trailer manufactuer?

I'd drill a hole though the stub axle and fit a normal split pin, you even have a flat to aid drilling

Agreed. BTDT. However, it's good to have a washer with a flat so that it takes any rotational load, from the bearing, away from the nut.

Thanks for 2 posts - yes that is the pesky thing. Can they be ordered as washers by themselves? Would be worth buying and hoping they fit.
There is no plate on the trailer providing manufacture information. I can't see any identification on the axel. American make is what others have said when seeing the hub size and 5 wheel bolt arrangement.
I have thought about drilling through axel to use a split pin - but this means ruining the grease channel as the grease nipple is set bang on centre of the end face of the axel - maybe that is not a major issue and obviously keeping the nut on is much more important.

Hi Christos, if only you'd mentioned the grease nipple in the stub axle earlier!


Sounds to me like you've got an American 'EZ lube' stub axle. Come across a few of these over the years.
