Limit on petrol?

This may be a stupid question (in which case I will deserve every silly answer), but is there a limit on how much petrol can be in my boat whilst towing?

Is there a volume that requires an 'inflammable liquid' warning sign?

Does this help? Carriage of Dangerous Goods - Can private individuals carry petrol?

In general I don't think private rib owners have an issue - beyond common sense and generally ensuring a safe secure load.

Trucks are allowed to carry a total of 1500 litres in their tanks (maximum 999 in any one tank) before they come into ADR regulations.

You will find some official limits if using some ferries, tunnels etc.

I don't think you will ever carry enough to be outside of the law! Also, even if you had a couple of 25L fuel tanks, that is still going to put the boat up if it dies catch.

While we are talking about fuel filled the boat up two weeks ago when it was cold weather and it has expanded over the last couple of days of warm weather and leaked out of the filler cap. Gives me an excuse to wash the boat down!

One of the reasons F1 teams measure their fuel in kilos not litres as weight never changes with heat but volume does.

Soooo 90l of fuel filled up at 0C two weeks ago, over the weekend it reached 16C so how much fuel has pi$$ed out all over my deck? (I wasn't very good at these maths questions)!

Just incase "Stato" AKA Poly jumps on to this there was probably .5l volume space in the filler neck...... I did almost brim it

So assuming the 0.1% is correct thats a 16 degree change to 16 times 0.1 is 1.6%

1% of 90litres is 0.9litres (900ml)
0.1% is 0.09litres (90ml) so 0.6% is 90ml x 6 = 360ml
So 1.26litres

Now how much pi$$sed out depends if you left any air space. But at £1.40 a litre thats expensive pi$$

My decimal was in the wrong place, but my workings out were right. Thanks for that

don't know where you went to school but six nines is fifty four so it is 1.44 L increase in volume...
