Axle Help

Hi all.

Brought the trailer in for a full service and am now in need of a new axle.
Wasn't expecting this, however is probably a good idea as I don't have any history behind the current one.

The problem I have now is getting hold of a similar axle.
The current one has no markings whatsoever, however the old Bramber Trailer website (its a Bramber trailer ) shows something very similar in looks, weight and dimensions and made by Knott-Avonride.
I contacted KA and they have confirmed that it was not made by Knott UK.
They have told me that they can provide an axle of similar type, however their dimensions do not match the current one.

I have also been in contact with Mersea Trailers and they can provide something similar but at a higher capacity - 1500kg's. Am just waiting to hear back with price & availability.

I have also been onto my local Indespension dealer who can do one, although it would have to be specially fabricated and will take 8 weeks and a hefty few quid!
They're also not too keen on fitting a third-party piece of kit.

Can anybody recommend other places that specialize in boat trailer axles , both for supply and fitting?
If Mersea Trailers supply the axle required, who or where would be the best place to have it fitted......particularly around Liverpool or anywhere from the Midlands Northwards?

I'll try to put a few pics here and maybe somebody will recognize the axle concerned?

Cheers.

Matt.

Worth ringing around to see what's on the shelf. You can order direct from the Indespention website; might be cheaper than going through a dealer. Also, try Extreme trailers in Southampton. They're very good; they helped me out with a replacement axle for a third party trailer once.

Yeah, I thought it was either Knott-Avonride or Al-Ko.
Have been on to the SBS website and found an axle which I'm sure is the one (or very like the one) on my trailer - SB0610 1300kg.

Excuse my ignorance - runners?

Thanks.

sorry by runners (very poor term sorry ) i meant the main side support rails which measuring between centre lines should give you the dimension you need , extreme use alko too ,you will find he has various spans and weights on ebay where he sells as "the need for speed

After a bit of shopping around I finally found the info I was looking for.
SBS Trailers were great, extremely helpful, friendly and not pushy!

After a few emails and a few additional measurements they were able to confirm that an Al-Ko 1500kg axle would fit my chassis and that they had in stock and could fit at anytime should I decide to go with them.

After all the help and info they had given me, not to mention the price for the axle & fitting and the fact they could turn it around within the day, I decided to go with them.
Dropped it to them at 0830 in the morning and it was ready by 1600.
In addition to the axle, including hubs/drums, brakes and cables they also fitted a flushing kit, new mudguards and steps. They also serviced the head.
I dealt with their Design & Operations Manager, Jack, whose knowledge, advice & general helpfulness was second-to-none.
On top of this he reduced the price of the labour and included several parts FoC!

Its not often you find a company with that level of customer service and as a result will be using them for all my trailer needs, including any future trailer purchase!
