As per previous thread I have now had my GL since the weekend and it is really nice. Plenty of pull even with the 320cdi and beautiful to drive. got 28mpg on a run and it's averaging 25 even with school runs which are murderous. Paid just over 22k for. 46 000 mile 57 which is loaded with kit, main dealer with full warranty.

Tow bar goes on on Friday which is 499 for a detachable with a three and half tonne tow limit.

Looked at land cruisers and patrols but comfort overcomes pure offload function for me.

Just seems unless you've got big bucks, you ain't getting a reliable big truck.

To spend over £10k on something and just get bigger bills when it inevitably breaks would be crap.

They build cars that work for 150k miles plus and trucks that work, why not big 4x4s? X5s are nice, but gearboxes go after 100k
Now you have seen the light HP .. go Jap

Looked at them quickly but not in detail yet. Going to get a test drive in a few models over the next week or so, starting with Touareg.

I'm also thinking pathfinder, barbarian, hilux.

Trotters car could work, tow bar already in situ

I looked at the pathfinder against the D3 but it is just not in the same league!
I do have a problem with Jap cars & just don't like them, they do not compare to a nice European car IMO
Oh and when did bog monster jack in being a Landy dealer?
Most of the reasons I love the D4 would be irrelevant with out any roads to drive on

HP take a chill pill, go get yourself a late Disco 2 with all the goodies, you won't regret it pal, it'll never be a D3/4, but that's no bad thing, it'll never be a jap truck, but again no bad thing, but it'll be cheap to run, will go forever, tow your rib no hassle down the A55, it may not be the best to look at from the outside, but very nice when you park your bum in the drivers seat, go and look at a few, you'll see the light, just stay away from the dark side!!

LandCruiser hit the spot in the late 70's early 80's as did Nissan in the late 80's

I don't like to nock the Jap stuff, but is not for me & it cheeses me off people nocking Land rover. They are made in Britain doing very well making a great product to boot, just a shame they are not British owned any more!
Love my land rovers I have had the pleasure of owning
