Buy out of Contract Hire

I have my Nissan Navara on a 36 month Contract Hire. This means that I am due to give it back at the end of the 36 month contract (next September).

To be honest it does most things I need at the moment and will only have about 35 - 40k on the clock so rather than lock into another contract on a different or identical replacement vehicle, that may or may not be the right choice, I would rather buy out the Navara and keep my options open for additional vehicles.

Anyone know if the contract hire companies (contract direct with Nissan) are amenable to such a change of contract, or am I stuck with handing it back?

Any ideas?

In my experience they would love to sell it to you! And they are normally up for negotiation.

Be sure before you make them an offer to check the auction houses prices, there is a glut of navaras about and with the credit crunch, the prices are low

I worked for Vauxhall for 3 years in a large franchise. I was in parts but used to talk allot to the sales guys. I know (back then) Vauxhall fleet would only sell you the car at a good mark up as they had a nice little earner going with a local sales garage that would take them off them at a good price once the contract was up. I think it'll all depend on the dealership you use. Can't hurt to ask though?
