NRS dry pants for launching

I always get wet while launching/retrieving the boat, so I am thinking of getting a pair of these, which are used by kayakers:

NRS Freefall Dry Pants

My worry is -- will they get too hot in the summer?

Or maybe I'll just wear them when launching the boat in the morning, and change to my swimming pants when coming back in the afternoon?

I am launching from Santa Cruz, CA.

Inexpensive fishing waders might be cheaper. ("might" being the operative word.)
