My Searider starts chine walking at 40 mph with a 90. A friend has put two 115 yamahas on 540 Hurricanes (one 2-stroke, one 4-stroke)...they both needed huge trim tabs. They worked but to me 150 hp seems like overkill.

I attached the pictures. On the one with the 4-stroke, he plugged the transom and got rid of the elephant trunks (installed a bilge pump instead. A lot of weight put them underwater.

In my personal opinion, 115 is sporty enough on a 5.4m boat.

I was just ribbing ya a bit, thats moving pretty fast on a 5.4..

I was wondering how much weight you could put on the transom before it starts dipping down.

Would filling an extended transom with foam help keep the stern from sitting lower in the water?

Whats the top speed of a 5.4 with a 115?

Not a lot. I'm ready to block off the hull to my Avon to see if it will sit a little higher. With the flooding hull, I think there's only 6" of freeboard back there.

Adding a bracket? Possible...but I'd make sure it follows the lines of the hull and doesn't angle up like your standard Armstrong/Stainless Marine. And filling with foam just adds more weight - air is lighter.

I want to say he raised the transom on the one with the two stroke - I'm not sure though

close to 50, if not over. Too fast to handle or ever use the speed.

My Dad has a Hurricane H540
With a Mercury 90 two stroke and that thing is a rocket. Have not got it on a GPS yet but fast and not out of control.

I cut down the transom for a 25" shaft. Its not so intimidating anymore after the first two conversions I did.

I dont think I am going to use the arch. Anyone need one? It should be a universal fit with very little modification.

Hmm... I want one for the Avon but don't know how it would fit.

Get me the width of the space on the deck between the tubes and then the width of the transom. I can measure it out. The arch is pretty narrow so it should be good. I'm thinking you will just have to fab new mounts on the bottom of each leg, once you cut it down to fit.

Alternatively, if it doesnt fit, how bout we just trade hulls.

Not sure exactly but its not too heavy. I was able to carry it around by myself, and I have spaghetti arms. Maybe 40-50 lbs?
