Many thanks for all your best wishes and it seems we were one of the luckier areas.
There is going to be a lot of finger pointing going on ,way after this mess has finished.
We had a real bad fire (Cedar fire ) exactly four years ago and seems we didnt learn any lessons from that
Following that fire they had an investigation to see what should be done in the future to prevent the same happening again.
So 4 years ago over a 140 new fire engines were due to be purchased.
Of that, only 17 were actually ordered
Of that ,zero have been delivered to date

Same with fixed wing aircraft.
2 of the huge air reserve cargo planes were to fitted with tanks able to hold fire retardent. They designed new tanks and then found they didnt fit the planes. So 4 years later they are still sitting on the tarmac !

Seems the issue with fighting fires is that the politicians are gambling with the alloted money. They divert it for other projects and each year they get away with it ,no-one really notices.
That is until the **** hits the fan and we have another bad fire season.

So yes,the people on a whole are coping well; but how much could have been avoided if the resources were available early on ,that were promised

Limedal I'm very happy for you not to have been burned out. I've been at sea and lost touch with the news. Hopefully the worst is over for your region.
