Web Page to Show AIS Tracking

Hi I am looking for a bit of advice and help in setting up a web link, to show vessel location and tracking over say a 1 month period.

I am shortly about to embark on a round britain trip, I have a Garmin AIS transponder fitted to the boat, and I want to display on our blogsite a map of where we have got to so far.

I have been using marine traffic .com and this link will show you what we did yesterday see Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions (i think you need to goto, vessel, itineraries, then enter MMSI no 235087776, then show map for a specific date) but how can I get it or another website to show upto 1 months tracking history and current location.

Any good ideas

Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,

The link I sent you:

Teal's last postion

Should show the day's track, not sure why it is not currently. Though I see a previous location just to the north.

How about a SPOT satellite tracker? You wouldn't have to rely on there being AIS tracking receivers all round your route (or uploading tracks from GPS). The auto tracking gives a 10 minute update.

We supply them, so have to declare an interest here. Happy to answer any questions about it.

More info on SPOT2 here:

Satellite Messenger, Channel Ribs

There would be a subscription for unlimited tracking as Mike describes of just 139 pounds pa.

www.shipais.com already plot ships around UK. Could it be possible for them to supply a link for your purpose?

Just found the answer (I Think) . This link Cover your Area on the Live Navigation Map shows you how to embed a map on a web page, and you can enter the MMSI number of any vessel you want it to show.

I will give it a go so have a look at Take Two Ribs in a couple of days and see if I got there. Thanks for the tips
