Suzuki Engine Interface Cable

Hi

I have a Suzuki outboard connected to a Lowrance the rib got flooded the other day and the network stopped working, I traced the short down to Suzuki Engine Interface Cable which is blue and goes into a blue extension which goes into a blue connection in and a red out. Can any one tell me what is in the little black box on the cable that says "Suzuki eng intrfce" as this is the problem. Was thinking of trying to open it and fix the short, as I can only find red red interface cables on the net.

Help please

The black module is a processor which converts Suzuki's K line data to NMEA2000. There are also memory functions to provide accumulated data. What Lowrance unit are you connecting to?

It's a small circuit board with a few components in it, all encased in a resin potting compound. I'd be very surprised if water got into it and killed it. My first unit died after a few months of use, and I ended up having to get a red version with an adaptor lead from ebay. JKmax I think. I'm guessing it's not a very reliable circuit design and it's coincidence your died when your boat flooded.
