If you go for a blue sea switch panel with breakers fitted it keeps things very simple. For electronics I would also keep the recommended inline fuse fitted.

thin coating of dielectric grease does a good deal to keep the corrosion away from the connections

The trouble with that is that the Blue Sea breaker switch panels are supplied as standard with 25a breakers. They are customisable though, but it takes longer to get the one you want.

One of those light up fuses, pre blown is a very handy diagnostic tool as well.

Mine was 15amp and I think that's what they normally come with, but I see your point, Fine for a VHF but you would still want an inline 3 amp for the GPS...
