Garmin 4 and 5 Series Owners - Waypoints/Routes Question

Does anyone with experience of the latest Garmin user interface know if you can enter waypoints from LAT/LONGs and then create a route from the waypoints.

I've only been able to create routes from clicking on the chart.

Old interface was much better IMO.

Stick a mark down anywhere then edit the lat/lon to what you want.

Unfortunately on small minimal button units this tends to be how it is.
