Fuel, Tacho and Volt meter not working

Hi

Been lurking for a while and have recently bought on of the few Tom Kats in existence! Great fun but the electrics dont work so I'd hopeing some of you guys/girls might point me in the right direction...

It is fitted with a fuel guage, tacho and ameter. All pretty much read full scale deflection when 12v is on. When 12v off the guages all drop to about 50%. None seem to register anything when the outboard is running.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Aaron

First step would be to figure out where the connectors for the harness are, unplug, clean up, inspect wires near the connectors for corrosion or breakage, and reconnect. Second step would be to actually get down and dirty with a voltmeter and see what's happening with the signals.

Since it's affecting more than one signal, I'd suspect a poor power or ground connection (ground being more likely since the meters actually do deflect.)

Luck;

jky

not much joy, 11.4v reads 18v on the voltmeter. Tacho not moving at all, the fuel guage might be marginally better, reversed the wires from the sender and now works (i think!) but ignition off is 1/4 full!

Think they are all junk and need replaced! eBay here I come...
