Which oil fill plug on Suzuki DF200

I have a 2008 DF200 on my rib and service it myself with use of the official workshop manual. However this year for the first time I have doubted the accuracy of the manual. My gearbox leg has two oil level/fill plugs near the top. The slightly lower one is marked oil level but this is not referenced in the manual and the line drawing implies the higher plug (marked oil) is the reference point to fill to. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Typically, one would be the vent. One is usually much lower though on the unit and the vent is the upper one. You would fill it from the bottom one so that the air can purge from the top.

However, if one is for lower unit gear oil and the other for engine oil (4stroke) then just crack them both and see what’s starts to leak out. Can’t go work with checking the oil.

Thanks SoCal. The lower drain plug is out of view. I’ve come to the conclusion that the lower plug in the photo is the point to fill up to. I can’t see what the upper plug in the photo is for. It’s certainly not the sump oil drain.

Going by the manual, looks like the top screw just under the anti cavitation plate, it looks like someone has been there before. I assume it vents here. Manual says the oil will flow out the oil level hole under it.

Get yourself a pump dispenser. Quicksilver do one. Honestly you’ll never go back to squeezing 237ml tubes again. Turns a messy job into a relatively easy one. Swap out the washers as a matter of course.
