What is this?

Does anyone know what this dial is for on the Consul of my Bat Rib.
It does work and is obviously to do with pressure of something - it has
"Bar/psi" written on it.
My engine is a 60hp Mercury 2 Stroke so it wouldnt be oil pressure.
I have been told it could be water pressure - but the telltale got blocked the
other day and it still registered?
Thanks in anticipation
Martyn

If you look on the gearbox you probably have a extra hoose (do you spell like that) that hoose is an extra meter to se the water pressure (cooling) in the engine.

Noddy,
The Tell tale is just that an idication of water being pumped. What you have is a pressure gauge far more usefull. You dont have to look round to check water flow

...As long as the pitot opening in the foot doesn't get clogged...

Heard tell of several people showing good water pressure while powered down and out of the water. Usually attributed to junk clogging the pitot opening while pressurized.

Whoops. Sorry; was thinking of a speedometer. I do recall someone having false cooling water pressure readings, but don't now recall what caused it.

I beleive this will be connected to the HEAD not the gearbox. Yes it will tell you if the intake is blocked or if the waterpump (impeller) stops working or is performing poorly. A good bit of kit. As someone already said the telltail is an indication and can become blocked with no adverse effect.

You should note it's normal operating position, problems can be indicated by low cooling water pressure aswell as no cooling water pressure (it will vary with speed, though)

Thanks Daniel
Yes it does seem to vary with an increase in revs
