Mmmm. Just to get back to the thread for a moment, you do realise that V-Dub do now produce a marine diesel engine. Not sure where you'd buy one from but I suppose Germany would be a good start. I'd certainly have one after experiencing their latest TDi cars.

And on the subject of bugbears. Effect and affect really gets me. Almost as much as bought and brought. I could go on

And what about the wrong usage of its and it's? Why do so many people put the apostrophe in when they're using the word in the possessive form e.g. 'the Touareg and it's V10 engine' instead of the correct version 'its V10 engine'. 'It's' is only used to mean 'it is'. And so endeth today's lesson.
