tohatsu 50d2 autolube removed

hi guys, just back from the outer hebridies, got a couple of questions for you.would welcome opinions on premix ratio reccomended for these engines, when autolube removed.also, should the prop be rigidly bolted to the driveshaft,or should it be slightly wobbly?

Hi Panda

The prop nut should be between 22 - 29 ft-lb so the prop should not be wobbling.

The recommended oil ratio is 100/1 but for racing they recommend 50/1

hi ribshop, thanks for that.i was running 100.1 till i noticed that the bloke i'm working for,who runs a zodiac with a 30hp tohatsu of the same year as mine, was using 50.1.this sent me into a panic, and i went to 50.1 myself.regarding the prop,i dont think the hub fittings are correct for the engine.there is a seemingly random collection of washers and shims, the innermost of which bears against the taper behind the splines.previously i have only encountered small outboards with shear pin etc,and these seem to leave the prop a little loose.hunting for a new prop at the mo,torn between 2nd hand ss racing prop (2 of on ebay) or new ali.i dont race the boat,i just use it for transport to and from the island i'm working on,and fun on sundays,so it's probably going to be the new ali.
thanks again for info, mind now at rest re engine damage.
