Or does it mean BRP haven't come up with a new concept (like the Verado for example) so they're sticking it on the 'outdated' Etecs?

I suspect if a 300 Opti was produced then Fond Du Lac would have fitted it.Remember, it's driven by the US market and their huge motors (Unless there's a 300 in the pipeline, which would be nice)

Yeah, it's ok. It's never really been troubled by DF140s, despite not being a particularly quick hull. In fact, it's seen off a Ribcraft 6.5 with a DF175 a few times.

It goes very well, my 7m/250 doesn't exactly make a monkey out of it. There was never much between your's, Jim and m'self back in the days when we used to go boating together.

Personally I would put Suzuki at the top of any 4/ stroke list, assuming you wanted to buy a fourstroke, which clearly you wouldn't...

Obviously different factors affect different hulls more than others. For example, weight and balance are more important than power with the Vipermax hull which is why they are best suited to etecs. The Optimax is good too but it's only USP is its price nowadays, the technology isn't really up there anymore IMHO. Merc have focussed on the Verados more, where as evinrude have continued to refine the etecs.
Dude! I my DF140 is awesome we go out with the kids + Grandma 5 up, calshot, portsmouth, Wootton Creek, Cowes back to Calshot and it only use 25L an awesome engine which has now been repropped to iron out prop slip and now it's faster too

Yeah the 150 opti is a bit faster but it's more powerful, thirsy and it eats opti oil too so I guess I like my four stroke because its easy, cheap to run, doesn't smell and I don't have to fcuk about with opti oil.......

Have I upset you opti nobbers yet

Had a bit of a dog fight with DD and the his sons 585 opti 150 mid channel on the way back from Alderney, great fun ( at the end of this video)....
