Hi DHD
I tried IMS and they are coming back to me.
I found IBS in Cornwall, but the numbers listed are all wrong and go to another business who are fed up with calls for IBS! I have emailed them but with no response. Can you advise a number for IBS? Also, their website address does not work either. Are they still in business?

No idea. never had a tacho on that one. it wasn't screamiing like the yam did as it passed 6K , nor did it sound like it was labouring.

Not very scientific that, eh?

Probably about right, though.

IMS (International Marine Supplies) are who you want. I've always dealt with a bloke called Chris, who is very helpful.

IBS is something to do with having the $hits.

I've got exactly the same motor on my 5.5m DSB rib. Now on my rib it's not the fastest but it's a great reliable motor even for it’s age. I was told the same as you that they were plagued by electrical problems, so as a precautionary measure I replaced the oil and water flow sensors (I found the water flow to be badly damaged). I then gave it the full works by giving it a very good service, but in fairness to her previous owner he kept it immaculate.
I got an original Suzuki manual with my boat & motor and it was the best thing ever, it gives you a step by step guide to EVERYTHING!
Yeah, International Marine parts are great! I got all my stuff for them (inc. a spare kill cord!).
As someone previously said, go onto Brown’s Point Marine Service website (http://store.brownspoint.com/dt55/558897.asp)as they have the full parts breakdown with part numbers - International Marine Parts can then easily supply them.
This is my 1st boat and I find it a very easy motor to work on!

Hi Steve,
Excellent information thanks. I, too, have got hold of IMS today, and found them very helpful. My engine looks pristine under the cover and seems to have done few hours despite its age. I will try to get a manual - perhaps from IMS - and follow your advice. I did manage to order the kill cord caps today - thanks to all your help on this forum.
Thanks again,
Edward

Good luck - check it's compatible first. The seller used to be a Soozook dealer, so will know the answer. It looks like it's from a 2-stroke, so you should be ok.

Hi DHD, I cant get the guy to answer he question re the suitability of the gauge for the 55. I wont bid on it as its not sounding good. He wanted £30 which is fair, butno good if it wont work!
