Searider 5.4 with 60hp?

I just got an Avon Searider 5.4 with a Mercury BigFoot 60 hp engine. Unfortuantly, I have not tested the boat. Does anyone know what top speed I could expect with a 60hp engine on a 5.4? My guess is around 25 mph. I understand the BigFoot engine is geared to turn a larger prop for beter push out of the hole but slower top end.

If I end up keeping this boat, I would like to go with a 90hp engine. Either a Yamaha F90 or E-tec 90. From what I have read on this site, 90hp on a 5.4 makes for a lot of smiles.

Thanks,
Tom

You may be pleasantly surprised-on a good day if it's set up right it should make close to 30 knots with the 60 on there.

The best I ever managed with my old 60 was 28 kts. That was a very old Evinrude premix. Freedom was VERY sluggish if you had more than 3 peeps on board. Now she is a dream.
