Yes - I started with a Villiers 210cc which was a derivitive of the 197cc 4 speed invalid carriage - the turqoise ones, and went on to race 125cc Rotax engines which were originally built for racing snowmobiles!

All racing karts are 2 strokes except the commercial ones that you turn up and pay to race, and the cadet class, although it has been a while since I was directly involved my Godson is quite succesfull now as is his brother.

You're not going to believe.....

..it but my company supplies around 50 tons of perfume each year to B.P for use in 2 stroke oil. We mainly supply the Far East but more recently we've been selling the same in the Middle East and Africa. It's not cheap stuff either.

If you want the "Sniiiiiiiiifffffffffff Rrrrr" experiance go to the Goowood Revival meeting. All the 2 stroke bikes still use it. Wonderfull.

Cookee. I used to have a Viliers 9E powered kart. (I learned to drive with it, on slicks on grass ) Ran that on R as well. The engine in mine was from a Grieves trial bike.

Errrmmmmm!

Ever heard of the TC-W3 spec?

Well apparently this is the ONLY spec oil you should be using unless you would like to see your warranties cancelled!

Now Quicksilver oil is about 45e per Gallon which I find outrageous.
A friend of mine has come up with a TC-W3 spec oil from Q8 selling for approx 4e per liter here in Greece.
Much nicer aint it?
Then again Mercury marketing speak goes on about how their Quicksilver oil is the only one good for blah blah blah and the pistons blah blah ...

As for Castrol R?
Love the smell but I wouldn't put it in an outboard, especially an injected, optimaxed, Fichted one.

Use semisynth oil and be better safe than sorry.

Oh, and if you (like me) have no particular taste for the morning 2t mist and perfume, just save some dosh and buy a 4t engine next time.
I know I will.
