Painting outboards

Hi, so some of you know I'm attempting to make my zap at engine....we'll work but when I pressure washed it the other day most of the paint fell off the engine block and also the outside engine leg, the leg used to be blue and pink and all sorts!

So I'm not really clever enough to take the whole power head off and paint that so my plan for that is spray it with Quicksilver Corrosion Guard Aerosol. Will that work?

For the leg, one I wet and dry sand it back what's the best way to go about re painting it? I've been looking at the aerosol spray can paints, do they need a primer? Any painting tips?

One day this boat will float!

I redid my tohatsu head recently. Stripped as much off it as possible (throttle links, carbs, coils, cdi unit etc) used brake cleaner to remove salt and grease then removed all loose paint with a flat head screw driver and rag.

I used black hamerite spray can then cleaned all the parts off before refitting. Looked good as new and has held up perfect!

I also re sprayed the gearbox using a some outboard marine paint from eBay. Colour matched pretty well! No primer needed just removed the water intake guards.

Always wax my engine to help the salt water bead off too.
