He hasn't said how he measured the transom! Yes it matters, you can't just measure along the angle.

I guess the rib maker can't add up either as they mounted the A frame low enough it hits the engine, idiots. Want to have a charity bet a long shaft wouldn't hit?

talk about blind, bit ironic surely as you clearly can't see what the pictures show, old engine was a long shaft, if that new engine was any higher it would need wings and a PPL to use it.

Well I am glad to be fuelling a worthwhile debate! My measurements were with the rule flat up against the backward sloping transom.

Trimmed in:
3000 revs 17.5 knots
4000 revs 27.6 knots
5000 revs 34.7 knots
5700 revs 35.8 knots

Trimmed out optimally

6000 revs 40.9 knots

2 big blokes. 55 litres of petrol left. Six pod seats. Small Solent chop. All two way averages over short course.

About 2.5 knots down on the Optimax where I got 43+. Of course she was fully run in.

It's only numbers, I know, but she also looks messy with loads of spray!

I assume you are intending to keep this engine then as you are still using it?

In which case will you be content if the splashing is gone?

You really need to go up with the engine though but you are probably stuck with trying another prop or drop the engine lower.

The supplier wants me to run it to 20 hours service. He is convinced the problem is tweakable. I am witholding payment.....
