Mariner or Mercury? What's the difference?

Hi Guys

Whats the difference between a 15hp 4 stroke Mercury compared to a 15hp 4 stroke Mariner?

Have been told that the Mercury is the better of the two, is this correct?

I can get a 2010 15hp 4 stroke Mercury brand new, boxed for £1995 with warranty compared to a 2011 Mariner for £2255.

Was told that there is no difference in the 2010 model to the 2011 model Mercury, is this right.

Was also told that the UK were the last place in the world that are importing Mariner and that they are being fased out for Mercury.

Can any one enlighten me on this matter.

Cheers

Steven

More Mercury engines to choose from, Mariner large HP engines are usually special order too. They are all built as Mercury, and then get Marinised (i thought that was funny!!) when ordered.

I'm all for folks having the outboard they believe in for max reliability... even if it is just down to paint.
