Lower leg stuck

Hi all just wondering if anyone has had this problem I'm trying to remove the leg to service the water pump .
But seems like the legs stuck solid I don't want to keep hitting it to hard im using a rubber mallet but to no avail.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

What engine is it ?

On mine there is a bolt hidden under the anode !

But I’m sure if you post the exact model someone can help

Make sure you have all the bolts removed, check the manual, YouTube etc for your outboard bolting locations

If you have any gap between the mid and lower unit can you put some wooden wedges in

Be patient and don't hit too hard on the cavitation plate

They can often be quite stuck even if there isn't a hidden bolt anywhere.
The spline on the end of the driveshaft where it fits into the end of the crank on the powerhead can be corroded in place.
When was it last apart?

But yes a make and model would help.

I remember years ago Nos4r2 telling the story of how he strapped a powerhead to a lorry trailer and failed to pull the leg off with a forklift.

If it's a 2 stroke and you are sure there is no water left in it, depending on the make and model you may be able to support it upside down and get some WD40 or similar to run down the driveshaft.

I'd also recommend leaving a bolt in place with a few threads on it to keep the lower drive unit from hitting the ground. You can grab and kick the bottom fin side to side too, just don't go overboard.

More details on the engine model would help hopefully you just have a bolt left in you missed I've seen the driveshaft stuck so hard in the crankshaft that the engine was scrap by the time it was dragged out. Many repair outfits have rings concreted into the ground to pull the powerhead off with a forklift. Getting release fluid into the joint may help but if its well stuck you may be better off leaving well alone if its still pumping water.

We had the same on a Yamaha 150. Turns out the bush half way up the shaft had corroded and was stopping the leg from coming apart. Perseverance is the key. If it is that then once apart, you are best cutting out the old bush and not bothering to replace it.

First of all, I would like to apologise for not getting back to you all sooner . Work comes first, unfortunately
Again, I apologise for my dumb mistake.
When I took all the nuts off, including the anoid bolt there, it was staring me in the face underneath hidden away.

Haha it almost fell off It seems to have been well looked after and well greased.
The impeller was in good condition but the gasket looks as if it had partially failed and letting by.
The reason I took it apart is because the tell tail looks rather weak.
I've yet tore start it yet and see it has improved.
If not I need to dig a bit deeper.
