help with mariner engine....

Hi im fairly new to engines etc and have been given a rather large mariner offshore 2.5 200hp v6 engine, we also have a 6.5m hull that we have had for a while. What we need to know is weather it is a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?? it has a rather large seperate oil resivoir that has a connector to the engine on the lid of the resivoir (with the connector) one outlet says oil and one says air. The engine was made in 1998 its silver and has a blue stripe across the engine hood.

I dont know if im sounding stupid however i just dont want to use the wrong oil and knacker the engine.

What you need to do is go to this website http://www.boatmad.com/forum/ and ask the question in their "Technical" section....I'm sure one of those helpful fellows will put you straight................

That will be a stroke. They never made a 2.5ltr 4 stroke.

Sounds like a 2-stroke to me.

The seperate oil tank gives it away.
