Fuel consumption

Does anybody have any real-word opinion on whether the "5l per hour per 10hp of power at WOT" is reasonable?

Thanks
Hugh

Litre / nautrical mile seems a good basis for trip planning as per a few threads on here, and it certainly works for my set-up.

I get 0.83L/NM averaged over a good few hundred miles since the rebuild (leaving out the 10 hrs of running in at low RPM & high oil levels)

The hard data is at home, I'll post back later with the fuel /hr figures and the average speed to go with that 0.83L. What I can say for sure is it isn't at WOT. (4.7K-ish average cruising rpm vs 5.6K nominal max)

I also have figues for the latter days of my old Suz which is in your HP bracket which I'll dig out.

In the meantime I assume you have searched for the previous threads? - there's a lot in here on this subject.

Are you inquiring about 2 or 4 strokes fuel comsumption ? If 2 strokes fuel consumption is usually 12% of rated HP at wot on flat calm no wind waters, running at near max wot rpm stated for that engine.

4 strokes swallows much less.

Happy Boating
