Excellent Website for engine parts!

I rang Mariner today looking for parts numbers etc for my engine.

They put me onto this website.. so far I can't fault it so thought I'd post it on here, maybe its already commonly used by folks on here?

I don't like it, why should we have to register and agree to terms and conditions that state they will share data, just in order to browse the catalogue?
This is of particular concern:-

"You also consent to our transferring your information to countries such as Korea and the USA which do not provide the same level of data protection as the UK if necessary for the above purposes."

Maybe I'm paranoid but seeing as there is no opt out feature I won’t be using this site.

You can always use false details and register an email address like "jimn.junk@gmail.com" to use for sites you don't like...

I've used this company before, they are based in dorset i think. Very good customer service and quick at posting the items out too. I'm sure i was recommended to the website by someone else on here but cant think who it was, old age and all that!

Why would a UK company be providing consumer/customer data to the likes of the USA etc? I would like to use this guy but am really put off too!

Maybe its a common practice - I'd better start reading my Amazon small print!

Dont be put off . As has been said Simon is a good guy. He looked after my Merc opti for a good number of years, stored the boat and bailed me out a couple of times with parts at short notice.

just because he is a good guy doesn't mean the people he shares his info with is good!

however at end of day if you want to use it sign up for a hotmail account and live easy. i have a couple of hotmail accounts specifically for such purposes.

cheers

Spoke to Simon and asked the question ref the data to Korea etc - seemed very nice and informed me the small print on data policy was a standardised wording policy but our info would not be sent as thought to Korea etc...

I would also vouch for Ribsmarine, they all know their stuff and are very professional, even coming down to open up on a Bank Holiday to give me some filters, following our rusty fuel episode.

I also went down to see Simon today, to point out the comments made, as I would not like him to loose any business. He is looking into the site/data and hopes to make some changes. However, the information is NOT shared with any other parties.

Good to hear all the positive comments, hopefully Simon will eliminate the need to login to browse and remove the disclaimer.
