You're right about clean fuel, but that applies to any fuel injected engine, 2 or 4 stroke. The old days of stripping down carby engines, cleaning the bowl out & blowing the jets through are gone. You can't put water & sh1t through an injector, whatever badge it's got on it. There are plenty of products in the form of additives & filters available to reduce water in fuel, chuck in a dose of good housekeeping & you shouldn't have problems. Maintenance wise, modern cars are no different, but we don't subject them to the same conditions that we expect our boat engines to operate in. Water in fuel is not an engine problem, it's a boat problem.

Anyone want a couple of lightly soiled 3.4 litre spark plugs? Could be useful to get out of a sticky situation. 300 hours on them but so clean you wouldn't believe it!
