I don't think we should have to. I mean engines cost loads of money, Evinrude's don't have 20hrs servicing so why should others have a low hour service. Surley it's just another way of making money out of us?

Its a good few years since modern cars have had 1000 mile services as well. So there doesn't seem to be a need for it.

Although I would always like an oil change. Theres no reason for it to be as expensive as Jon's quote.

I'm sure your correct, after all, most dealers aren't doing it for a hobby.

Was a bit shocked when one dealer quoted me £245 per engine, clearly they wont be getting the work, not for this one or any others!!!!

Very high to say the least- When I had the first check on my 250's it was free.It was at about 20 hrs.- but was only a check.. nothing was changed... Whether you call that a "service' - its open to question.
I have an excellent relation with my Yam dealer and it comes down to that-- I trust him , and he in turn knows I am serious when I say something's wrong
and he wont take me for a ride, Beginning of the season- changed plugs and gear oil + OBD check - came to about 250 euros.Could have done it myself for about a 100- but the guarantee would be invalid.. Hope this helps.

Jonathan

PS he is also a Sus. dealer.

I have no issue at all with the engines needing to have a 20 hour service.
IMHO I like the idea of an early check and lub change.

Which by the way was done yesterday.

My gripe is how the hell can anyone charge that sort of money!!
Also the dealer had first agreed to come to Ramsgate and do the servie on site then when I called to book my boat in, "no we don't service on site"
So why fecking tell people you do

To take a 9m boat from Ramsgate to Medway by road would be a nightmare and about a 6 hour round trip by water.

Anyway all done now.
Engines serviced, boat back on the water and working so am a happy bunny.

Cheers

Normally 10 minutes for a man of your calibre......( by road)..

When I was working out of Dover - it was a nightmare in the mid 90's to get "good "people to come out to Dover for problems- dosn't seem tio have changed a lot.

Give me an idea on what you are doing with your 250's in liters/hr?? normal ops.?

thanks

Jonathan
