E-Tec 130 HP Motor.-

Hello,

Need some tech information regarding :

Evinrude recommends the use of any of their high quality and costly 2 strokes XD 100, XD 50, XD 30 oils. Can someone confirm which of the 3 mentioned oils does the motor comes factory adjusted to ? Would like to use a non synthetic high quality 2 strokes Amalie Pro oil as the factory oil is scarse and most times no available.

Evinrude accepts the use of any high quality 2 strokes TC-W3 oils, but will it be necessary to adjust the EMM (computer) to say XD 30 to run such Amalie oil ?

Happy Boating

The engine will come from the factory set to TCW-3 oil. If it’s set to XD100 by the dealer, it “should” have a yellow sticker on the EMM stating so.

THanks PD,

If no yellow sticker is seen, probably was set to run XD or XD 30 grade ? All those 3 mentioned oils are TC-W3 ones as those motors are 2 strokes with injectors electronically controlled.

Was reading that if the motor was set to run XD 100 oil and want to use any other 2 strokes oil need to adjust the EMM as the XD oil being synthetic needs less amount of oil when motor runs compared to tad more amount running the XD50/30 ones.

Will check about the sticker as don't want to screw a very expenside motor. BTW this motor has only 100 metered worked hours, don't know if previous owner used it with XD 100 oil or any other non XD brand oil.

Nope, unless want to buy the software or work with the very expensive local Evinrude dealer to check that out...

Though presumably not as expensive as a seized engine[emoji6]

My motor has this tag on the oil filler. Yours should have something similar, I would think.

Thanks NP, highly appreciated. This 2012-130 HP does not have an internal oil tank as seen on your nice pics, has a large one hidden on rear hull next to the transom area. Anyway which brand oil are you using ?

My engine is programmed for TCW 3, but I use the higher grade XD100. A lot of ETEC users do the same. Some may say you are wasting the more expensive oil, but others believe it is cheap insurance to be sure that your engine is well lubricated. Also, if you are operating in cold temperature environments the synthetic XD100 is recommended.
