I think this is a very good idea, as I once used a pully off the A frame to raise my Mercury 135 one set of mounting holes and I think most of us do not have 135Hp donkey engines (though I have seen an inboard RIB with an 85HP one )

I agree. This is a thought I had had too. In fact, even with a 27kg engine it would be a good idea. It's an expensive thing to drop and a long way down!
There are sling harnesses available which will support the engine. It's all down to A frame v transom positioning.... and I won't know that in my case till that nice Mr. Humber has finished building it!

This months Motor Boat Monthly has an article on small outboards that would be suitable for an aux.

Didn't buy the mag as I don't have a Gin Palace. Also my rib get was bought to be used rather than just sitting in a marina being used as a floating caravan. meow.

If you feel inadequate without a gin-palace, just feel smug the next time you get in rough weather and think how much you've saved in crystal wine glasses!

Thanks for the MBM tip, though if it really is a Gin Palace like the one I saw in Ibiza once, the donkey is probably a 225 Optimax…. to push it along at 6 knots!
