Broken trim tilt on brand new Suz 200 4stroke??

Mates engine that got robbed end of last season. Fitted new in yard last week, sea trial and all worked fine with engineers. Went to pick up today and evidently engine won't lift up???? Engineer couldn't figure it and suz dealers never experienced it. Far as I know the electric and pump are working, but no lift?? Anyone else ever come across it?

Will the engine move by hand without opening the manual lift valve?

I'd be pushing for a new PTT unit

Not sure if there's fluid, but it worked previously so unless it has leaked out. No signs of.

Should you be able to lift it manually? (strength providing) what's the implication either way?

Waiting for further news from yard today.

Cheers guys. He's gutted, what with losing the lastone, wrangling with insurance and now this as soon as he goes to launch.

I had this. It was down to the little tilt limiting switch on the tilt tube thinking the engine was at full tilt when it wasn't. Give it a little nudge and hopefuly all will be well. Its a small black circular plastic ring around the tilt tube with a microswitch attached to the side.

If it's not what Erin said, inside the PTT unit there'll be an overpressure valve that allows flow for the engine to tilt up if you hit an obstacle. I'm wondering if that could be sticking.

Bugger of a job to do though.

Have you checked that the manual release screw is closed?
If the tilt limit switch was sticking the Power trim pump would not run.
Have so far never had a new system not work correctly.

I had this on a 140, it had air in the system, bled it as per suzuki tech intructions, topped up fluid, all ok again...
Check the screw as per aquatec's post aswell.
