How about a Nissan Navara. I got to drive works new one today back from Plymouth. 2.3TDI and it actually seems faster and Torqueier than mine . Plus you can put all the salty dive kit in the back without getting the inside of the car wet.

P.S. Where's my life jacket?

Yes, Richard this is little brother of my Ram, this is Ram 1500 powered by either V6 or V8 petrol engine, mine is Ram 3500 twin axle powered by the latest version of Cummins 5.9 diesel which is also in my Hummer but that one is the older version not with electronic injection but both are Turbo.

My 101 has 60 metre Norweigen Forestry winch on it, so it's well handy for dry recovery!

Built to tow a 105mm gun, you wouldnt notice anything behind it, plus you can jump from in the back of it, to the front of the boat without touching the water.

A beast but 12mpg!!!!!

I bought "The Eden Project" ( a Pajero that's never been cleaned, inside or out) as a tow and launch/recovery vehicle and it has done exactly what it says on the tin.

We have had 7 people in it up & down the M3 and the 2.8 TD has proved enough grunt for our launch and recovery requirements. Never used it on sand though, but I was very grateful for the full 4WD capabilities when caught on the mud with an advancing tide in front of an expectant but ultimately disappointed crowd of pub onlookers.

Salt water corrosion has required new exhaust, drums & discs etc but the costs can be limited by using specialist importers for parts.

Not pretty but Paddy rumbles on.....
